Rogan RB Knobs

We now sell hex keys for the small, medium & large knob sizes, the small knobs use a very small imperial sized key for which there isn’t a good metric alternative (0.05 inch). Please take care using this key and don’t use excessive force to over-tighten the screws, due to the very small diameter it is quite easy to blunt the key. The medium key is 1/16th inch.

These RB range knobs are made in the USA by Rogan and have been frequently used by Verbos Electronics as well as on Buchla systems. They feel great to touch, and look fantastic on all types of panels. These 6.35mm knobs are made with ABS plastic with a matte finish, and will fit perfectly on our Alpha 9mm Pots.

Note: these knobs use bushings and set screw(s) – they require a small hex-key rather than a screwdriver to tighten them.

A brand new knob designed by Thonk

We’ve been searching for some time to find the ideal knob to make tall trimmers better to wiggle with. We wanted a knob that would feel more tactile to handle, whilst still retaining the convenient grip and slimness of trimmer pots. We also wanted colour options which would pair nicely with our other ranges of knobs. T18 knobs are too prone to damaging Tall Trimmers so we went through a careful prototyping process to get the fit of these just right. Behold the Tall Trimmer Topper!

These knobs are strictly designed for Tall Trimmer Potentiometers which you can buy HERE. They are not designed for use on T18 pots, they kind of work on T18 pots but we don’t recommend them for that so buy for that purpose at your own risk.

New Black 1900h types

  • Black No Line – No white line on the top. Encoder style for ‘endless’ rotary pots on digital modules.
  • Black (T18) – For 18 teeth knurled 6mm shafts such as Doepfer, Elby etc. These are pure plastic, not brass inserted.
  • Black (D) – 6mm shaft D knob For Make Noise, Intellijel, 4ms and many more. These are pure plastic, not brass inserted. Double check your modules actual knob orientation details before purchasing.

The Black (D) part has been specially manufactured to fit correctly on new style Make Noise modules. The Rogan knobs on Make Noise modules have a round hole for around 7mm of the knob shaft before it turns to a D shaft. This means that other manufacturers D shaft 1900h clones will sit no closer than 7mm off the surface of a Make Noise panel. Note the pointer orientation on these means they are not suitable for all D-Shaft pots, see diagram below, the pointer is on the curved side of the D.

DinSync – TR-808 Knobs

DinSync have made replicas of the original TR-808 knobs! These knobs come from painstakingly retooled injection molds. They are perfect replacements for existing TR-808 drum machines; for use on the Dinsync RE-808; and with a very Eurorack friendly range of sizes too.

These knobs fit great on our Alpha T18 pots and will also fit on other 6mm T18 pots – like those used by Dopefer.

The three sizes are:

TR808 FINE TEMPO KNOB – SMALL N-127

TR808 VOLUME KNOB – MEDIUM N-128

TR808 COARSE TEMPO KNOB – LARGE N-165

For a complete TR-808 set you need 1 x  Small knob, 4 x Medium knobs and 1 x Large knob

These are the same quality pots that are included with 95% of all Thonk produced kits and specced by many manufacturers. These pots work great with all the 6mm D-Shaft knobs we sell.

These pots are perfect for Music Thing Modular, RYO, Fonitronik & Erica Synths projects where 9mm pots are specced… but do double check as there are a few exceptions.

We love these pots, they feel smooth and precise and have got a strong following for a good reason. One thing that always annoyed us was that annoying little anti-rotation tag that you have to cut or break off, so unlike other distributors we got them manufactured without that tag. Also removing the nut and washer on each pot to build something like a 64 pot sequencer panel can get REALLY tedious, so again unlike other distributors we include the nut and washer bagged separately. It only save 20 seconds per pot maybe, but it adds up!

Brass Pot Adapters – 6mm to 6.35mm (x20)

These brass adaptors allow round shaft knobs to be fitted on to our Alpha T18 Shaft and D-Shaft pots. They also work great for fitting round shaft knobs onto our Song Huei trimmer pots!

Moog DFAM Knob Upgrade

A Knob upgrade bundle to cover the small black trimpots on the Moog DFAM. Installing these larger 6.35mm round shaft knobs make the controls much more ‘playable’ as well as improving the frontpanel aesthetic. Moog may consider that adding these knobs is considered an ‘after-market modification’ so it will affect your warranty, but they can easily be removed at any time. The kit includes brass adapters to fit inside the knobs which are held in place by a set screw which tightens the adapter onto the shaft of the small pots. Don’t overtighten the screws or it can cause damage. If you concerned about the affect on your warranty, don’t fit these knobs.

Bundle includes: 16 x Small knobs for the bottom sequencer section and 3 x Mini knobs for the VCO Controls as well as 20 x brass pot shaft adaptors.

‘Mini MXR’ Style- T18 Shaft Knobs

These knobs are similar in style to our larger MXR knobs and can be found on recent modules by Befaco. These are the perfect companion for the Thonk 1900h clones and are made from the same colour stocks for a perfect match.

Initially we will be stocking these in T18 Shaft only, we’ll expand the range of shaft types if demand is there!
